Roger Nores has been cleared in the ongoing investigation into Liam Payne‘s death.
The One Direction singer died at the age of 31 in 2024 after a fatal fall from a balcony at the CasaSur Palermo hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and the case has been under investigation ever since.
Why Was Roger Nores Cleared of Criminal Charges?
A new report reveals that the Argentine businessman associated with Liam has been fully cleared of criminal charges related to the incident, per court records obtained by the New York Post.
CEO of Stoneway Capital Corp. Rogelio Luis “Roger” Nores, 38, was initially indicted on a manslaughter charge. That charge was dropped last year, but he remained accused of a drug supply charge since last June through April of this year.
His devices were checked after a message was discovered on Liam‘s phone asking for “six grams,” according to paperwork. Roger reportedly did not reply to the message.

Three judges agreed with the ruling that Liam was free to decide to use drugs, and that Roger wasn’t responsible. Prosecutors are not appealing that decision.
What Did Roger Nores’ Attorney Say After the Decision?
“There is no chance that Nores will be brought back into the case. The court was clear in its ruling that cleared him of any criminal wrongdoing,” his defense attorney Rafael Cúneo Libarona confirmed to the outlet.
“Roger never had the duty of caring for Payne, much less caring for his addictions. He was not Liam’s guarantor. He was his friend, not his physician, nurse, or therapist.”
Who Else Is Still Facing Charges in the Case?
Two other men remain under investigation, accused of selling cocaine to Liam: restaurant waiter Braian Nahuel Paiz, 26, and hotel worker Ezequiel David Pereyra, 22, are accused of selling the drugs, and served over one year in police custody and in a federal prison until being released in March, per the Post.
There is talk of a plea deal for the defendants, which could potentially reduce the charge to supply of drugs for free, which has a six month max sentence.
“We would be inclined to accept the offer,” Ezequiel‘s defense attorney, Augusto Maria Cassiau, told the outlet.
The recipient of Liam‘s multi-million dollar estate has also been revealed.
