What is The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo about?
The New York Times bestselling novel written by Taylor Jenkins Reid is about a reclusive, iconic Hollywood starlet Evelyn Hugo, who enlists unknown reporter Monique Grant to write her tell-all book, which will chronicle her life story and rise to fame during the golden age of Hollywood.
The novel was first published in 2017, and found major popularity on TokTok. Then in 2023, Netflix announced that they were working on making a movie adaption.
Sources tell Deadline that Anna has secured the directing gig for the film, and it’s considered a highly anticipated movie among fans.

Deadline reports that after the success of Woman of the Hour, having Anna direct Evelyn Hugo “made the most sense given how high the studio has been on the property since landing the rights in 2022.”
Who else was attached to the movie?
Variety reports that two other filmmakers, Maggie Betts and Leslye Headland, were both previously attached, but departed.
Where is the film in terms of development?
It seems it is still being written. Deadline reports, “Liz Tigelaar penned the first draft of the script with Francesca Sloane currently working on revisions.”
