Taylor Swift briefly launched a countdown that caused a stir in the Swiftie community, but as it turns out, it doesn’t seem to be related to Toy Story 5.
The 36-year-old singer-songwriter caused a panic at the end of April on her website, TaylorSwift.com, which shared a countdown scheduled to expire in 48 hours.
Fans were quick to notice the background of the video is very similar to the iconic cloud wallpaper that’s in Andy’s bedroom from the Toy Story movies. The font was also similar to the Toy Story logo, which has a blue border with yellow coloring.
Director Andrew Stanton, co-director McKenna Harris and producer Lindsey Collins all addressed the rumors after the countdown led to nothing, and their answers are surprising.
“We saw it. It surprised us. What a freakin’ honor,” the director said.
“Yeah. It would be pretty amazing,” Lindsey said, adding emphasis to the word “would.”
“The sad truth is we watched the movie being mixed last week and the song on the end of that was not Taylor Swift,” the director then confirmed.
The movie arrives in theaters June 19, the same day as the 20th anniversary of her debut single, “Tim McGraw.” It’s still not clear why the countdown happened.
Another pop star, however, has just recently been confirmed to appear as a voice actor in the fifth installment. Find out who’s making the cameo.
