Two rising stars have landed the roles of Ed and Lorraine Warren in the upcoming prequel for The Conjuring.

Garrett Wareing and Amanda Fix will star in The Conjuring: First Communion, the next installment in the popular horror movie franchise. They are taking over the roles that were made famous by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga in the original series.

Garrett, 24, is best known for his work as Lucas Russell on the Netflix series Ransom Canyon. He has also appeared in recurring roles on shows like Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists and Manifest. His movies include 2025’s The Long Walk and the new comedy Chasing Summer, which premiered at Sundance earlier this year.

Amanda was seen in the Amazon Freevee series High School, which was based on the memoir of singers Tegan & Sara. She played the young version of Gillian Anderson‘s character in Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and will hit theaters this summer.

What is The Conjuring: First Communion about?

Not much is known about the plot of the film, but Variety reports it will “focus on the early years of the ghost hunting couple.”

Up-and-coming director Rodrigue Huart will be directing the film with a script by Richard Naing and Ian Goldberg, who wrote multiple movies in the franchise already.

The Conjuring: First Communion will be released in theaters on September 10, 2027.
