Nathalie Baye Dead: ‘Downton Abbey’ Actress Dies at 77 Following Dementia Diagnosis | Nathalie Baye, RIP | Celebrity News and Gossip | Entertainment, Photos and Videos

Nathalie Baye has sadly passed away.

The French actress, best known in the United States for her roles in Downton Abbey: A New Era and Catch Me If You Can, died at her home in Paris, France, her family confirmed to the Agence France-Presse (AFP) on Saturday, April 18. She was 77-years-old.

LBD is a progressive neurodegenerative disease characterized by abnormal protein clumps that form in the brain, which can impact cognitive thinking, movement and behavior, according to the Mayo Clinic.

Nathalie is one of France’s most distinguished actresses after starring in more than 80 films. She also appeared in multiple TV shows and plays.

She’s a ten-time César Award nominee, with four wins for Every Man for Himself (1980), Strange Affair (1981), La Balance (1982), and The Young Lieutenant (2005).

In 2009, Nathalie was appointed a Chevalier of the Legion of Honour, which is the highest and most prestigious French national order of merit, both military and civil.

Following news Nathalie‘s death, French President Emmanuel Macron took to X to pay tribute.

“We loved Nathalie Baye so much,” Macron wrote. “She accompanied, through her voice, her smiles, and her reserve, these last decades of French cinema, from François Truffaut to Tonie Marshall. An actress with whom we loved, dreamed, and grew up. We think of her family and her loved ones.”

Nathalie continued working up until 2023, with her final movie role being in Mother Valley.
