Lindsey Vonn is stepping out in New York City.

Months after horrific crash at the 2026 Winter Olympics, the 41-year-old skier was seen walking with crutches as she stepped out to do press on Thursday morning (April 30) in NYC.

For her outing, Lindsey sported a red suit over a black bra paired with black heels.

If you forgot, Lindsey suffered a terrifying crash just 13 seconds into her run in the women’s downhill skiing race at the Olympics in Milan back in February. After suffering a complex left leg fracture in the crash, Lindsey has undergone eight surgeries and still has a long road to recovery ahead of her.

In a new interview with The Associated Press, Lindsey said that she is not physically or emotionally ready to decide if she wants to race again.

“I just don’t want to jump to any conclusions or even speculate on what I might do,” Lindsey said. “I may retire. I may never race again and that would be completely fine, but I’m not in a position emotionally to make that decision at this point.”

In the past, Lindsey has returned to racing after suffering an assortment of injuries, but she admitted that this injury is different.

“It’s a much different injury in that way, again, like the severity of the injury and understanding that I could have lost my leg and how bad things were,” she explained. “I can deal with a lot of pain, but this was so extreme. It’s not even been in the universe of pain with this injury as what I’ve had before.”

Lindsey has been making a lot of progress in her recovery, though not as quickly as she would like. She has moved out of wheelchair and is now on crutches, and next week, she will be able to begin walking short distances.

As of right now, she hasn’t spoken to her doctor about a possible return to skiing, saying that they are both focusing on this phase of her recovery.

“Regardless, nothing would really happen until ’27-28 because I still have one more surgery left to take out the metal and to replace my ACL. That still needs to happen,” Lindsey said. “Once I get my ACL fixed, then that’s another six months, so I have at least I would say a year and a half ahead of me before I could really be back to 100%, even just training in the gym.”

Lindsey went on to note that she doesn’t want a “do-over” since she had done all she could to be as fully prepared for the Olympics race.

“Downhill skiing is one of the most dangerous sports in the world, and that’s a risk that I’ve always taken happily, and this is the result, and I don’t regret it,” she added. “I don’t want a do-over.”

For now, Lindsey‘s main priority is getting her leg healthy again.

“I’m still, like I said, in survival mode that I just want to get through this phase and be able to assess where I am in my life,” she shared. “And take count of what I’ve done and take count of what could be and make decisions in a much better place than where I am now.”

“I don’t want to make a decision now because I think that would be rash and probably too emotional and I don’t want to make a mistake, you know?” she added.

Lindsey‘s new comments come after her dad made it very clear that he wants her to retire after the crash.
