Linda Noskova is officially a Grand Slam champion!
The 21-year-old Czech tennis star captured her first major title on Saturday (July 11), defeating fellow Czech Karolina Muchova in the Wimbledon women’s singles final, 6-3, 5-7, 6-3, on Centre Court at the All England Club.
Linda came out firing, taking the opening set 6-3 behind her powerful serve and aggressive baseline game. She looked poised to finish the match in straight sets after earning two championship points in the second set, but Karolina refused to back down. She battled back to steal the set 7-5, forcing a deciding third set.
With the championship on the line, Linda regained her composure in the final set. She broke serve at a crucial moment and held her nerve the rest of the way, closing out a 6-4 victory to secure the biggest title of her career.
The victory marks Linda’s first Grand Slam title and caps off a breakthrough run in London. She entered the tournament as the No. 9 seed before defeating Ella Seidel, Camila Osorio, Sorana Cirstea, Madison Keys, Elise Mertens, Marta Kostyuk, and finally Karolina to lift the Venus Rosewater Dish.
This year’s championship was also historic, as it marked the first all-Czech Wimbledon women’s singles final and guaranteed the tournament its first-time Grand Slam champion.
Congratulations to Linda on an incredible Wimbledon run!
