Kathy Griffin is recovering after being hospitalized.
On Thursday (May 22), the 65-year-old comedian revealed that she was recently hospitalized after suffering complications from a colonoscopy.
“Well, the sound got screwed up, but I made this video for you guys because I’m TMI anyway,” Kathy wrote on Instagram. “I spent the night in the hospital because I had complications from my colonoscopy.”
She continued, “I know, I know very sexy, but I am home now with the doggies where I belong.”
A colonoscopy is an examination of the inside of your large intestine (colon) is helpful in diagnosing gastrointestinal diseases, such as inflammatory bowel disease and colon cancer, per the Cleveland Clinic. Potential risks or complications of a colonoscopy include injury to the colon wall, uncontrolled bleeding from tissue removal, or infection.

Kathy is now the second celebrity that has recently had complications from a colonoscopy.
Earlier this week, Amy Schumer revealed that she had a “botched colonoscopy” and hasn’t been “feeling very sexual” since. She did not offer more details about what happened, but has previously been candid about her health, including a diagnosis of exogenous Cushing syndrome.
