Joe Jonas is recalling two auditions he went on, and he did not land either role.
The 36-year-old entertainer tried out for a role on The Morning Show, and detailed the “terrible” audition. He also recalled auditioning for the Wicked movies.
Joe Jonas explained why his The Morning Show audition was a “crash and burn”
“It was The Morning Show. It was my callback, and it was to play a young anchor that they have in the show,” Joe explained. The role was a right wing podcaster, and based on the description of the character, it appears he could be talking about Brodie “Bro” Hartman. The role is played by Boyd Holbrook in the series.
When he arrived at the audition, he went into a tiny room.
“It was just these little blinds. All the lights were off and they didn’t work. And I could hear, clear as day, all the guys auditioning… And these guys were crushing it. Like, ‘Ah-ha! Oh my God!’ I didn’t bring headphones, so I’m literally sitting in silence, reading the lines,” he recalled.
“I go in and I just… I crash and burn. I can’t even. I did a terrible thing. They were like, ‘Oh, you can read off paper for this if you want.’ I’m like, ‘I got it.’ I’m like, ‘I’m good,’” he recalled.
“It was literally like, I don’t even know what I’m auditioning for, just like me forgetting the name of The Morning Show. It was just gone from me. It was such a bad audition. I was like, ‘Ugh,’” he shared.
Joe Jonas then spoke about auditioning for the Wicked movies
He said that auditioning for that role was “a bit of a strange one because there was, like, incredible theater vocalists I could hear clear as day.” He did not specify what part he went out for, but we do have some info on that!
Katharine McPhee is one of the celebrities who left a comment on the post, writing, “Sometimes roles aren’t about who’s the most powerful vocalist or hit the highest notes, it’s about who has the best charisma or can make a whole room laugh or tear up with your vocal ability. Often times people confuse vocal power with talent and they couldn’t be more different. But also…. what’s meant for you will be regardless of who has a strongest voice. I would have cast you on Wicked, Joe!”
