Moana may already be playing in theaters in the U.S., but that doesn’t mean Dwayne Johnson and Catherine Laga’aia are done promoting the movie!

The co-stars are back on the road for their international press tour, with a stop in Japan, where the movie will be released on July 31.

Dwayne and Catherine walked the red carpet together while attending a fan event and premiere screening on Monday (July 20) at Toho Cinemas Hibiya in Tokyo, Japan.

They were joined onstage during the fan event for a special taiko drum presentation led by Matsuya Onoe, who voices Maui in the Japanese versions of the animated films. He also dubbed the voice for the live-action film.

Tsuzumi, who provides the Japanese voice for the Moana live-action movie, performed “How Far I’ll Go” at the event.

The premiere was held on the Japanese national holiday Marine Day, which celebrated ocean and maritime prosperity.

Moana hit theaters in the U.S. on July 10 and has sadly been a disappointment at the box office. After 10 days, it has only grossed $81 million at the domestic box office.

The animated movie Moana 2, which was released in 2024, grossed $259 million in its first 10 days.
