Caroline Kennedy delivered an emotional tribute to her late daughter, Tatiana Schlossberg, during the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award ceremony on Sunday (May 31).
The rare public remarks came nearly six months after Tatiana‘s death. The environmental journalist died in December 2025 at the age of 35 from acute myeloid leukemia.
According to Today, while speaking at the ceremony, Caroline reflected on the importance of family and the role her relatives have played in preserving the legacy of her father, John F. Kennedy.
“Politics is a family endeavor, and I’m so grateful to the members of my family who are here tonight and whose support over many years has kept my father’s spirit alive and made this institution a living memorial,” she said.
Caroline then turned her focus to Tatiana, whom she shared with husband Edwin Schlossberg.
“Most of all, we remember Tatiana, who served on the board of this library, and represented everything my parents stood for in her beautiful, amazing and too-short life,” she said.
The audience responded with a lengthy round of applause that went on for approximately 20 seconds following the tribute.
Following Tatiana‘s death, the Kennedy family held a private funeral service at a New York City church in early January.
In early May, Jack Schlossberg opened up more about the loss of his sister.
