Gavin Newsom responded to the list of the 10 worst U.S. states to live in, as calculated by CNBC.
They used factors such as crime rates, air quality, healthcare access, worker protections, and civil rights laws to determine the ten worst places to reside within America.
According to this ranking, the worst states in the United States to live in include Tennessee at number one, followed by Texas, Indiana, Louisiana, Georgia, Utah, Missouri, Alabama, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.
Every state in the top 10 went for Donald Trump in the 2024 election, and they all have Republican governors and a GOP-controlled legislature.
California Governor Gavin Newsom’s press office saw the ranking and shared a response.
“Notice something in common? All led by Republicans—many suffering from California Derangement Syndrome,” the account wrote.
Some notable Republicans also fired back at the ranking. “If Tennessee was really the worst state to live in, people wouldn’t be moving there in large numbers, which they are. Typical nonsense,” Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis wrote.
