The Turning is a new, original musical mystery from writer and composer Zack Zadek.

The workshop, which took place last Friday (October 10) and Saturday (October 11), featured direction from Sammi Cannold and choreography by Chanel DaSilva, as well as music direction from Geoffrey Ko.

The musical is reportedly described as an “exhilarating, original mystery” with a lush folk score, and “follows best friends Gracie and Nora as they escape Los Angeles for a secluded wellness retreat in California’s towering sequoia groves — only to find themselves tested by seductive rituals and a dangerous paradox: How far are we willing to go to heal?”

“The Turning is a fully original folk musical designed to be a thrill ride from beginning to end. Playing in this kind of genre sandbox — both musically and narratively — is my favorite thing to do,” Zach Zadek shared in a statement.

“It was beyond exciting to collaborate with this group of theatre artists at the top of their craft to let this very first audience in on the mystery, and I can’t wait for more people to meet these characters soon,” he continued.

Not only did Lola and Jordan previously star on Broadway together, but they also share another connection – working with Jenny Han!

Lola, of course, starred in The Summer I Turned Pretty TV adaptation of the author’s book series, while Jordan starred in the Netflix movie adaptation of Jenny‘s “To All the Boys” franchise, playing John Ambrose in the second installment, To All the Boys: PS I Still Love You.
