Sarah Michelle Gellar Only Had 1 Line in Original ‘Buffy’ Reboot Pilot: Here’s What She Said | Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Sarah Michelle Gellar | Celebrity News and Gossip | Entertainment, Photos and Videos

There’s another update about the canned Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot TV series, which was axed by Hulu last week.

For some backstory: devoted fans of the OG show were gutted by the news that the highly anticipated new take would not be moving forward, Sarah Michelle Gellar confirmed the news herself over the weekend.

She then shared more about the reason why the show didn’t move forward, and seemed to blame one Hulu executive in particular.

“We had an executive on our show who was not only not a fan of the original, but was proud to constantly remind us that he had never seen the entirety of the series and how it wasn’t for him,” Sarah said to People.

Now, a new Variety report, published on Wednesday (March 18), has another shocking update in it: they share that Sarah Michelle only had one line of dialogue throughout the original pilot script.

Most of the script apparently centered on young Nova (Ryan Kiera Armstrong), who comes to learn that she is the new Slayer.

The Chloé Zhao-directed script spent much of the time in Sunnydale focused on the Nova story, before breaking at the end.

A turn is made to New York City, where an office set-up shows a woman, working under the name “Anne Summers,” as seen on her name plate.

It’s then discovered that this is SMG‘s Buffy, who apparently only has one line in the entire script.

Supposedly, it comes at this moment when Buffy’s co-worker mentions she would not want to be tardy for their morning meeting.

“Nope… wouldn’t want that,” Buffy apparently says.

Variety has the full plot of the entire now-cancelled episode.
