Peter Greene tragically died last year after accidentally shooting himself, the coroner’s office has determined.
The beloved character actor, best known for movies like The Mask and Pulp Fiction, was found dead at the age of 60 in his New York City department.
Peter was found dead on December 12 after a wellness check was conducted at his home. Neighbors reported that music was heard playing inside of his apartment for over 24 hours. It was later reported that Peter was found “lying on the floor, facedown, facial injury, blood everywhere…” with a strange handwritten note by his body.
Now, the death has been determined to be accidental.

TMZ reports that the cause of death is “a gunshot wound of the left axilla with injury of the brachial artery … and the manner of death has been classified as an accident.”
Peter accidentally shot himself in the left armpit, damaging the “artery that supplies blood to the arm, elbow, forearm, and hand.”
Along with his movie roles, Peter also had recurring roles on the TV shows The Black Donnellys, Life on Mars, and Chicago PD. He most recently appeared in the John Wick prequel series The Continental in 2023 and in one episode of Dope Thief last year.
