Michael Duarte, known as “FoodWithBearHands” on social media, passed away on November 8, and there are new details coming to light.
If you didn’t know, the California-based food influencer was said to have died in a “horrible incident,” per his GoFundMe page, but no further details were given at the time.

According to police, he was shot by the authorities and pronounced dead at the hospital, per Medina County Sheriff’s Office via TMZ.
The report claims that police responded to a 911 call in Castroville, Texas due to a disturbance involving a “male subject with a knife acting erratically.”
The Sherriff’s Office says he approached officers threateningly and “after multiple verbal commands were given for Duarte to get on the ground by the deputy, Duarte charged toward the deputy while yelling, ‘I’m going to kill you.’”
A deputy fired two rounds from her weapon, which struck Michael and fatally wounded him. He was transported to University Hospital in San Antonio, where he was officially pronounced dead.
Michael previously went to rehab around the time of the pandemic after experiencing a “mental health crisis,” he said on Instagram.
