Mayim Bialik is sharing a sad update on the previously Blossom reboot.
The 49-year-old actress played the titular role on the NBC series from 1991 to 1995. Mayim has been discussing a possible reboot of the series for some time, having most recently shared earlier this year that she was still interested in reprising the character.
Unfortunately, Mayim says that plans for the reboot series have since been cancelled.

In a post shared to her Substack on Monday (August 25), Mayim shared the news and explained what it means for the future of her career.
“For no particular reason, we were told ‘no,’” Mayim revealed in the post, saying that she thought the show moving forward was a sure thing before they were given this news. “We asked for the rights so that we could let the market decide if audiences might want to see these characters all these years later. We were told Disney reserves the rights in case they ever want to do a reboot of Blossom.”
Mayim went on to say that while she hopes that a Blossom reboot might still happen someday, she’s not feeling particularly hopeful about the possibility. She also shared that this project being cancelled has made her lose some interest in acting.
“Since this all fell apart, my desire to continue to pursue on-camera roles has waned. The constant changing of guards in our industry, the mergers, the insincerity and the increasingly extended periods of time it takes to get answers or contracts completed… It’s not the industry Don and I grew up in, and Blossom felt like my last attempt to try and assert myself as an actress,” Mayim shared in the post.
Mayim went on to say that she doesn’t think the reboot being cancelled is due to a lack of interest. She wrote in the post, “While it is possible no one wants a Blossom reboot, I’m pretty certain Disney got this one wrong.”
