The listing on Town Hall‘s website clearly states, “Lionel Richie invites you to join him as he shares his intimate, deep, and candid moments… In conversation with friends, Lionel will revisit hilarious and harrowing events to inspire all who doubt themselves or feel their dreams don’t matter-reminding us of the power of love to elevate our own lives and our world.”
Tickets to the event included “access to a moderated conversation between Lionel and a special guest” and a copy of the book, valued at $36.00.
During the talk, some fans verbally express their anger when they realized Lionel would not be singing. Some attendees claimed they spent upwards of $600 per ticket, expecting a concert.
“They were pissed,” a source told Page Six. “People walked out; someone yelled ‘Shut up and sing!’ Another person was escorted out, screaming, ‘I want my money back!’”
Lionel told the audience at tone point, “If you’re looking for a concert, you came to the wrong place.”
A rep for the singer told Page Six, “It was always advertised as a moderated Q & A (no musical performance) and [it] seems some customers did not read the language. Also, $600.00 was not the cost as that number came secondary market sites – not from Ticketmaster. Average cost was $77.00, which included a copy of the book.”
Lionel recently had a scary moment happen while at home in Los Angeles.
