Jeff Webb Dead: Founder of Modern Cheerleading & Charlie Kirk Mentor Dies After Pickleball Injury | Charlie Kirk, Jeff Webb, RIP | Celebrity News and Gossip | Entertainment, Photos and Videos

Jeff Webb has passed away.

The Varsity Spirit founder died due to a pickleball-related injury at the age of 76.

His cheerleading company confirmed the news on March 19.

“Join us in honoring the life and legacy of Jeff Webb, founder of Varsity Spirit and modern cheerleading. His impact has built a community that will continue to inspire generations to come,💙” they captioned a video tribute on Instagram.

In an email sent to the Varsity Spirit community, per Cheer Daily, company president Bill Seely said Jeff fell while playing pickleball two weeks prior, and suffered a severe head injury. He was reportedly hospitalized, and his family ultimately made the decision to remove him from life support.

“Varsity Brands is saddened by the passing of Jeff Webb, founder of Varsity Spirit and modern cheerleading. Jeff played a pivotal role in shaping cheerleading as it exists today and in building a community that has impacted generations of athletes, coaches, and teams. In recent years, his contributions helped grow the sport both in the United States and globally, including his work with the International Cheer Union, which achieved full recognition by the International Olympic Committee in 2021. We extend our condolences to Jeff’s family and loved ones, and to the many across the spirit community who were influenced by his work,” the company said in a statement.

Jeff was also a mentor to Charlie Kirk, and the late conservative’s organization Turning Point USA also posted a tribute.

“In memory of Jeff Webb. A visionary who helped shape generations of young leaders and believed deeply in the power of community and country. A dear friend to Turning Point USA and Charlie. He will be greatly missed,” they wrote.

Jeff was also the founder of the Universal Cheerleading Association (UCA), as well as the founder and president of the International Cheer Union (ICU), and the founder and chairman of The New American Populist.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Gina, his children, Jeffrey and Caroline, his brother, Greg, his sister, Jenna, and two grandchildren, per People.
