James Van Der Beek‘s fans were so saddened to learn that he passed away on Wednesday (February 11) at the age of 48.
He revealed he had been diagnosed with colorectal cancer in 2023, and came forward with his diagnosis in 2024.

Now, the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office is confirming that they will not be conducting an autopsy, Us Weekly reports.
The site reports that because he had a cancer diagnosis, an autopsy will not be required. Families can opt out of autopsies if they are not suspicious of the death.
In addition, TMZ is reporting that the cause of death was not reported at the time, but they did learn his death was reported today at 6:44 AM.
