Heather Hemmens is starring in a new Hallmark Channel movie airing during the Countdown to Christmas programming over Thanksgiving weekend and we caught up with her to learn more about the project!
The actress, best known for starring in shows like Hellcats and Roswell, New Mexico, is going back to her musical theater roots with her new Christmas movie The Snow Must Go On.
Heather plays a high school guidance counselor who convinces a Broadway actor, played by actual Broadway star Corey Cott, to jump in as the director of the school’s annual Christmas musical to save the show. Of course, an unexpected romance also happens!
In addition to the premiere of her new movie, Thanksgiving weekend will be a busy one for Heather as she’s also gearing up for the launch of her new Galifornia Undies brand. After being diagnosed with fibroids and struggling with heavy periods during long shooting days, Heather created the luxury period panties to help women feel more confident.

Just Jared: The Snow Must Go On is all about the high school musical experience and you actually went to a performing arts high school. Did you pull from that background for this project? Were there any similarities between your experience and the high school featured in this movie?
Heather Hemmens: Discovering my love for musical theater, finding my voice, and overcoming stage fright were huge confidence boosters that I found early in life! I loved watching the students in this film go through the same transformation, on and off camera! They really shine in this movie, and I can’t wait for everyone to see their enormous talent.
JJ: What was it like working with Corey Cott? Have you ever had the chance to see him perform on stage before?
HH: I had never seen Corey perform until we were on set, and I was blown away! His energy and performance was so captivating in person, I imagine people watching at home will be cheering for him out loud, just the way I did! He’s fantastic.
JJ: If Hallmark Channel were to make an original movie musical, which Hallmark actors should star in it? Anyone with secret musical talents we don’t know about?
HH: I would vote for myself and Wes Brown or Andrew Walker! I recently discovered they both have great singing voices, as well as rediscovering my own, so I think it’d be really fun to surprise our audience with that secret talent.
JJ: You got to sing with Jonathan Bennett on the Hallmark Christmas Cruise recently. What was it like performing in front of that crowd?
HH: We did a variety show where many of us gave our best shot at entertaining our fans in a way that they weren’t expecting, and I think they really enjoyed watching the actors use their musical talents!
JJ: What inspired you to create Galifornia Undies? How long have you been developing the brand?
HH: I’ve been developing Galifornia Undies for about a year and a half! I was inspired to create this line of cute period underwear after being diagnosed with fibroids and not finding any on the market that I wanted to wear. I thought, if I want period undies that don’t look like “granny panties” other women must want them too! My gorgeous line offers style, comfort, PFAS free fabrics with the right amount of luxury and lace. I’m so excited for the ladies to have them and love them as much as I do! We launch on Thanksgiving at GaliforniaUndies.com.
JJ: Any exciting holiday plans coming up? What do you want most for Christmas this year?
HH: I’m still traveling for our Hallmark Christmas season, I’m looking forward to meeting fans at Christmas Con in New Jersey December 12-14 and The Hallmark Christmas Experience in Kansas City December 18-21!
For Christmas, I most want to relax somewhere warm with my loved ones… not sure if that will happen, but I’ll keep asking Santa until it does!
