Indie singer-songwriter Frankie Bird has shared her new single “Lennon & McCartney,” the second song off her upcoming sophomore album.

The entirely self-written song, which was recorded at a cottage in Carmel By The Sea in California, references iconic musical duos throughout time as a metaphor for dealing with heartbreak and friendship loss.

“I have the best memories making this song,” Frankie said in a statement. “I wrote it on my guitar in my living room reflecting on a friendship and heartbreak loss I had experienced and compared it to iconic musical duos throughout history as a metaphor.”

She continued, “I then went on a music retreat with my band to Carmel By The Sea. We recorded the song in the living room of the cottage and had zero idea or expectations on how it should sound. We immediately landed on a rockier experimental sound that was inspired by female singers of the 90’s and of course The Beatles. It was the second song to really kick off this new project and solidified where the rest of the album would go and the possibilities of what the sonic world should be. It’s one of the songs I’m most proud of because it gave me confidence in how I was evolving as an artist and songwriter.”
