Niall Horan is kicking off a brand new album era with “Dinner Party”!
The 32-year-old solo star and One Direction member announced his new single, arriving on Friday (March 20), and revealed that it was inspired by true events in 2020 that led to his now 6-year relationship with Amelia Woolley.

“This song is about a really happy and big moment in my life,” he explained on social media.
“An evening at a simple dinner party that changed the course of my life,” he continued.
“After writing the song, the words ‘dinner party‘ became the nucleus for the rest of the record. That once in a lifetime moment that I am grateful for and for everything that came after that night.”
The song was produced by AFTERHRS and Julian Bunetta, and co-written by Niall with Julian, Ian Franzino, Andrew Haas, and Jamie Scott.
He later elaborated on what happened in a Capital Radio interview.
“I love this song. I wrote it last summer. Actually, we rented a house in Surrey, and we did a little week out there, a few of the producers and writers that I work with. So, we were out there for a week just writing tune after tune. And you spend a lot of time writing, and nothing is coming…then this was the one that I was like, ‘okay, this is where the album starts from here.’ Because my relationship started on the night that this song is about,” he explained.
“I realized that that dinner party became a bigger thing than just sitting around, getting drunk and having a bit of food. It’s become the next six years of my life and hopefully the rest of it.”
He also addressed how Amelia wound up at the dinner.
“I actually can’t even remember what it was, but I do remember Amelia being a late addition through a mutual friend. She arrived then and we just got chatting,” he added.
“Crashing lights when you first saw me / Yeah, I met you at a dinner party,” he sings.
“Dinner Party” is the title track of Niall‘s forthcoming fourth studio album, set to be released on June 5.
