While on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Colin recalled having “one of the worst days I’ve ever had to film.”

“It was my birthday on May 31st, we were shooting, and I begged production – who did I think I was, $120 million film – if they would not have me working on my birthday,” Colin shared. “And they went, ‘Yeah, well, we’ll see what we can do.’”

“So, of course my pick was 6am on May 31st,” he continued. “I got up to all sorts of nonsense the night before and I remember getting into bed, and as soon as I turned off the light, the phone rang and it was the driver outside, [he] said, ‘It’s 10 past six,’ and I went, ‘Oh, sh-t.’”

“And I got to the trailer, and Dave Venghaus, god bless him, he was the third AD, met me and I got out of the car and he went, ‘You can’t got to the set like this,’” Colin continued. “I went, ‘Just get me six Pacifico cervezas and a pack of 20 Red.’ Now listen, it’s not cool ’cause two years later I went to rehab, but it worked in the moment.”

“By that note, I had a couple of beers and went to set, but it was terrible. I’ll never forget the line that I had that I couldn’t get out. It was, ‘I’m sure you’ve all grasped the fundamental paradox of pre-crime methodology.’ That was the line that started the scene,” he said.

Colin recalled being asked if he wanted to go take a break for a breath of fresh air, but remembered that it would be more pressure when he returned.

“I went, ‘No.’ It took 46 takes. Tom wasn’t very happy with me.”

Ten years ago, a sequel series aired on Fox, starring Meagan Good, Wilmer Valderrama and more.

Currently, you can catch Colin starring in the new movie Ballad of a Small Player on Netflix!
