Carole and this actor had gone on a few dates years earlier, so the out-of-the-blue phone call took her by surprise. During their conversation, Carole revealed that the actor said that he auditioned to play her late husband in the FX/Hulu series and asked her for recordings of Anthony to study his voice.
The Emmy-winning journalist didn’t disclose what she said to the actor during the exchange, but the phone call left her so rattled that she had to pull over to collect her thoughts because it stirred up unresolved feelings.
Ultimately, Erich Bergen, not Carole‘s ex, was cast as Anthony Radziwill in Love Story.
In another recent interview, one of the Love Story producers explained why Carole wasn’t featured at all in the series despite her close friendships with JFK Jr. and Carolyn.
