Laredo Couple Arrested in Coffee Shop Parking Lot

Laredo Police arrested two individuals following a late-night call at a well-known coffee shop on East Saunders Street.

Around 10:39 p.m. on September 20, 2025, officers responded to a report of suspicious activity inside a parked gray Honda CR-V at Starbucks Coffee parking lot. Upon arrival, police identified the occupants as 18-year-old Juan Rodrigo Rodriguez and 17-year-old Maritza De Leon.

Both were taken into custody and charged with Public Lewdness, a Class A misdemeanor after the officer saw both of them without clothes on.

According to the arrest report, Rodriguez stated he believed, based on something he had seen online, that such conduct in a vehicle was acceptable.

In Texas, 17-year-olds can be charged as adults under state law, which applied in this case.

Authorities confirmed the case is still under review. Police emphasized the importance of public awareness and responsible behavior in shared community spaces to ensure safety and respect for all residents.
