Fox NewsJesse Watters is facing substantial criticism for his comments on-air.

The 47-year-old news anchor shocked viewers during an episode of The Five on Tuesday (September 23).

During the appearance, Jesse addressed issues encountered by President Donald Trump while attending the General Assembly at the United Nations headquarters in New York City.

At one point, his teleprompter cut out during a speech. Also, an escalator froze while he and First Lady Melania Trump were on it, which required them to walk up the remaining steps.

Jesse claimed that U.N. staffers “sabotaged” the escalator and the teleprompter during his appearance, calling them “an insurrection.”

“And what we need to do is either leave the U.N. or we need to bomb it,” he shockingly went on to say.

“[The U.N. headquarters] is in New York, though, right? Could be some fallout there. Maybe gas it?” he continued, as the co-hosts laughed.

“Let’s not do that,” Dana Perino finally said.

“Don’t gas it. Okay, but we need to destroy it. Maybe can we demolish the building? Have everybody leave and then we’ll demolish the building,” Jesse continued.

He, Dana and co-host Greg Gutfeld also joked about turning the building into “affordable housing.”

“No, this is absolutely unacceptable, and I hope they get to the bottom of it, and I hope they really injure, emotionally, the people that did it,” Jesse concluded, resulting in intense social media backlash and calls for his firing.
