Tom Holland is opening up about working with dyslexia and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
In a new interview, the 29-year-old Spider-Man: Brand New Day actor detailed about how the diagnoses can sometimes hinder his work as an actor and shared how he overcomes it.
Keep reading to find out more…“I have ADHD and I’m dyslexic, and I find sometimes when someone gives me a blank canvas that it can be slightly intimidating,” Tom shared with IGN. “Sometimes you are met with those challenges when developing a character.”
Tom went on to explain that he believes in tapping into his inner child through “play” in order to get himself prepared for his roles.
“Any way that you can, as a young person or as an adult, interact with something that forces you to be creative and forces you to think outside the box and make changes,” he continued. “I think that the more we do that sort of stuff, the better.”
Tom previously opened up about working with his dyslexia, which he was diagnosed with when he was 7-years-old.
“My dyslexia, it’s really just my spelling,” the Cherry actor shared on Jay Shetty‘s On Purpose podcast in July 2023.
He then credit his parents for always helping and supporting him.
“My spelling was really the biggest hurdle,” Tom said. “I worked really hard at school. I didn’t do particularly well, but my parents said, ‘As long as you try your best.’”
