James Gunn has announced details for the follow-up to his Superman movie.

The next movie in his franchise is set to be released in 2027 and three actors have been confirmed for the film.

The sequel will be titled Man of Tomorrow and it will hit theaters on July 9, 2027.

Deadline reports that David Corenswet, Nicholas Hoult, and Rachel Brosnahan are all expected to return as Superman, Lex Luthor, and Lois Lane, respectively.

Gunn announced the sequel news on Wednesday (September 3) by sharing a comic book photo of Superman and Lex Luthor side-by-side, seemingly confirming that the villain would be returning for the next movie. He also tagged David and Nicholas in the photo.

Superman has grossed more than $600 million at the global box office, including over $350 million in the U.S. alone. While the movie will eventually be available to stream at home on HBO Max, a release date has not yet been confirmed.
