Maitreyi Ramakrishnan has a new Netflix project coming soon!
The 24-year-old actress had her big break in the Netflix series Never Have I Ever, which ended back in 2023. In the years since, she did return to Netflix as a voice in the animated film The Twits, but now she’s going to be on-screen for a Netflix project for the first time since the show ended.
Maitreyi is starring in the new movie Best of the Best, which was co-written and produced by Hasan Minhaj. The actor also appears in the film!
What is Best of the Best about?
Two childhood best friends, Maya and Anjali, join UCLA’s competitive Bollywood-fusion dance team, only to discover that the road to winning the U.S. Championship is far more raucous and cutthroat than they ever imagined.
Joining Maitreyi in the movie are Priyanka Kedia, Ankur Rathee, Janina Gavankar, Chaneil Kular, Becky Alex, Shreya Navile, and Hasan Minhaj.
Additional cast include Lilly Singh, Nihar Duvvuri, Nico Greetham, Amryn Khurana, Tanishq Joshi, Saara Chaudry, and Sasha Bhasin.
Best of the Best release date revealed
The movie is going to be released on Netflix on September 18.
Best of the Best is directed by Lena Khan, who previously directed 2016’s The Tiger Hunter and the 2021 Disney+ movie Flora & Ulysses.
