Jake Johnson‘s new movie The Dink is premiering on Apple TV this week and he stepped out on the red carpet with the cast to debut the film!
The 48-year-old actor was joined by co-stars Chloe Fineman, Ed Harris, Mary Steenburgen, and Aaron Chen at the premiere event on Monday (July 20) at AMC Century City 15 in Los Angeles.
While he wasn’t in attendance at the premiere, the movie also stars Andy Roddick playing a version of himself!
What is The Dink about?
Washed up former tennis prodigy Dusty Boyd (Johnson) has been reduced to coaching unruly children at his father Chuck’s (Harris) suburban country club. Desperate for his father’s approval, Dusty blindly supports Chuck’s vendetta against the new craze taking over the club: pickleball. But when Dusty reaggravates an old injury, taking away his ability to play tennis, he resorts to the unthinkable in the name of rehab. He not only tries pickleball, but, thanks in part to his enchanting new partner, Candace (Steenburgen), he finds himself actually enjoying it. Torn between two worlds, Dusty is forced to finally face the ghosts of his past athletic failures, including his childhood nemesis, Andy Roddick. Ultimately, Dusty is drawn into a desperate battle for the future of the club, his father’s affection and his very identity.
The movie will be released on the Apple TV streaming service on July 24.
Also starring in the movie are Patton Oswalt, Chris Parnell, and Ben Stiller.
It was date night for Jake Johnson and Mary Steenburgen
Jake was joined on the red carpet by his wife, Erin Payne, while Mary brought along her husband, Ted Danson.
Comments that Ed made on the red carpet have gone viral.
The movie is directed by Josh Greenbaum, who also directed the beloved comedy movie Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar. In addition to having a role in the film, Ben Stiller is also a producer on the project.
