Anya Taylor-Joy had to rely on an unexpected source to learn that Argentina had won its latest World Cup match: a waiter at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce‘s wedding!
The 30-year-old actress shared the story while promoting her new Apple TV+ limited series Lucky. During a LADbible interview, Anya explained that she was unable to monitor the score because phones were prohibited at Taylor and Travis‘ July 3 wedding at Madison Square Garden.
How Anya learned Argentina had won
A waiter eventually approached her and discreetly revealed, “Just so you know, Argentina’s just won.”
“Then I was like, “Yes!” she recalled.
Argentina defeated Cape Verde 3-2 in extra time during the tournament’s Round of 32. Anya, who was raised partly in Argentina, also thanked Lionel Messi for making the country proud.
