Suni Lee is returning to the mat!
The 23-year-old Olympic gold medal-winning gymnast announced her comeback on Tuesday (July 14) with a new video teasing her return to the sport ahead of the 2028 Olympics.
“i’m back,” she captioned the video, along with the film slate emoji.

“I know what I’m capable of. I’m willing to do whatever it takes to get there,” she says in the video, which features clips of her entering a gymnasium and of her practicing throughout the years.
The video concludes with a message, saying, “This is more than a comeback, stay tuned.”
Former Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman commented her excitement, writing, “Yayyyyyyy!!! Rooting for you!”
Suni‘s Team USA teammate and fellow gymnast Jordan Chiles shared, “She’s back!!!!”
That same day, Fanatics Studios, which produced the video, announced its first documentary, which will follow Suni‘s return to competition.
“This is more than a documentary; it’s an invitation to come along for the journey. I know there’s more in me, and this is my chance to challenge myself, test my limits, and see what I’m truly capable of,” Suni shared in a statement, via THR. “This isn’t about proving anyone wrong. It’s about showing up for myself and discovering what’s possible. Through the setbacks and the victories, I’m giving myself one more chance to find out what happens when I keep going.”
“We created Fanatics Studios to bring fans closer than ever to the most groundbreaking and beloved stories in sports. From our first conversations with Suni, it was immediately clear that there is an amazing story to tell that goes deeper than what fans see in competition,” Michael D. Ratner, CEO of Fanatics Studios and founder & CEO of OBB, added. “This documentary gives audiences unprecedented access to one of the most accomplished athletes of her generation as she navigates extraordinary personal and professional challenges. We’re proud to partner with Suni and Cookie Jar & a Dream Studios to capture this defining chapter of her life and career.”

Back in 2023, Suni announced her retirement from the Auburn University Gymnastics Team following a series of health issues surrounding her kidneys.
She then returned to elite gymnastics nearly a month later and made it to her second Olympic games in Paris.
There, Suni and her teammates picked up the gold medal in the team final, and she also won bronze in the all-around and uneven bars.
In 2021, at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Suni won her first Olympic gold medal for all-around, as well as silver in team, and bronze in uneven bars.
Following the 2024 Olympics, Suni took a step back from gymnastics and did not compete at all in 2025.
