Netflix is bringing Monopoly to life!
On Monday (July 13), the streaming service announced that they are working on a new competition reality show based on the iconic board game.
In the series, 12 players will be competing to win the $2 million prize. (A get-out-of-jail-free card is not included with the $2 million prize pot.)
“Contestants will be immersed in a life-size Monopoly Town Square where they’ll have the opportunity to earn money, buy properties, negotiate deals, and hopefully stay out of jail,” Netflix announced on Tudum. “(No word if winning second prize in a beauty contest will still earn $10.) One by one, bankrupt players will be eliminated while others build their empire — until the one person left standing takes it all.”
News of the board game-inspired reality show comes after Netflix that the new competition series Wonka’s The Golden Ticket, based on Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, will premiere this September.
Earlier this year, we got a new update on the planned Monopoly movie Margot Robbie‘s LuckyChap production company has been working on.
The Monopoly series is currently scheduled to premiere on Netflix in fall 2027, and you can audition to compete on the show HERE!
