Taylor Swift paid the full $160,000 to cover the increased police presence at Madison Square Garden during her wedding last week, according to Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
There were many police officers and detectives spotted outside the New York City arena on both Thursday, July 2 and Friday, July 3 for the rehearsal dinner and wedding.
Taylor and new husband Travis Kelce got married in front of 1,000 people at the world’s most famous arena and everyone was kept safe thanks to the NYPD.

During a press conference on Friday (July 10), Mamdani was asked who footed the bill for the police presence.
With a laugh, Mamdani said, “Taylor Swift will be paying … has paid already the cost of the permit that was lodged, which was over $160,000 for that event and for the response to that event. That was a permit that was finalized, I think, in just the days before the event itself.”
Some haters on social media were unjustly complaining about the wedding due to the amount of police officers present, so hopefully this stops all the chatter!
Check out all of the inside details from the wedding that we learned in the hours after it happened and take a look at the star-studded guest list.
