A JonBenet Ramsey series is coming to Netflix.
The limited series will focus on the killing of the late six-year-old beauty pageant star in December of 1996, and is called The Murder of JonBenet Ramsey. It’s set to star Melissa McCarthy and Clive Owen as her parents, Patsy and John Ramsey.
Emily Mitchell plays JonBenet, and the show also stars Garrett Hedlund, Alison Pill, Shea Whigham, Owen Teague, Clifton Collins Jr., Angus Caldwell and Jaime Ray Newman.
The series is about “one of the most infamous unsolved murder cases in American history, and the devastating personal and public reckoning that followed the death of JonBenet Ramsey on Christmas night in 1996,” via Netflix.
JonBenet was found dead in the basement of her Boulder, Colorado home hours after her mother reported her missing. She had been struck on the head and strangled, and the case remains an unsolved mystery with several theories.
“After a national media frenzy, nearly 30 years — and more than 21,016 tips, letters, and emails later — the killer has not been found,” Netflix notes.
The show, originally greenlit at Paramount+ in 2024 and completed in early 2025 (then called Unspeakable: The Murder of JonBenet Ramsey), is set to air this winter on the streamer, THR reports. It failed to move ahead at Paramount, and its production company 101 Studios moved from Paramount to NBCUniversal earlier in 2026.
In addition to her onscreen role. Melissa will also act as an executive producer alongside others, including showrunner Richard LaGravenese and writers Harrison Query and Tommy Wallach.
At the same time, the cast of the upcoming thriller Turpentine is getting bigger: Connor Storrie and Melissa McCarthy are leading the new movie, and six new additions have just been announced, including an actress the Heated Rivalry star has worked with before.
