Tom Holland is opening up about why he stopped drinking and launched his company, Bero.
The 29-year-old Spider-Man star made an appearance on Good Hang With Amy Poehler, which premiered on Tuesday (June 2).
During their conversation, Amy asked Tom why he began a non-alcoholic beverage company.
“I quit drinking because I had a problem, and I just couldn’t put it down and it was affecting my professional life. It was affecting my personal life. And my health,” Tom admitted.
“I decided to to pack it in and I got through that first year, which I think was the toughest challenge that I’ve ever been on. And during that first year, I noticed that there was limited options for people like me that were looking for something that would scratch that itch, that would help you live or go to the bar and be a part of the social experience, but not feel like the only person with a lemonade,” he continued.
Tom went on to explain that he launched a new line of shandies, inspired by longtime love Zendaya‘s dislike of beer.
“The truth behind the shandies, which we’re bringing out this summer, is that Z has never drank. She’s never been a drinker…she’s the best. Which means she never found the taste for beer. And everyone remembers their first beer. It’s a little bit like…that kind of doesn’t taste great. And then you get drunk and you’re like, oh, okay, let’s go,” Tom went on to explain.
“She’s incredibly proud of Bero. It’s just there there is a missing link of like, she doesn’t enjoy the stuff that I’m trying to sell,” he laughed.
