Kathryn Gallagher has released her new single “Joke’s on Me” and she’s opening up about how she was inspired by her relationship with her girlfriend, The L Word: Generation Q actress Jacqueline Toboni.
The Grammy-winning singer, best known for starring in Broadway shows like Jagged Little Pill and Spring Awakening, went public with her relationship in January 2025 and revealed in a new Instagram post that she wrote this song a few months later.
“I wrote this song with @ellavos last April — it started with a simple idea — before i was living the life I’m living now, before having the love i have now, i couldn’t possibly imagine a world in which it’d be possible — i wouldn’t even dare to dream it because dreaming it and then not finding it would be too hard to live with,” Kathryn said.
She continued, “But one day it seemed more possible and a hell of a lot closer than i ever thought… turns out the ‘dreams that we dare to dream really do come true’ <3.”
Jacqueline stars in the music video with Kathryn and she wrote a sweet comment on the Instagram post. “tg im a dream catcher,” she said.
