The Mandalorian and Grogu is finally in theaters, which means many fans are already wondering when the movie will start streaming on Disney+ to watch and rewatch at home.
For now, the new Star Wars movie is playing exclusively in theaters after premiering on Friday (May 22). The film marks the first theatrical Star Wars movie in seven years and continues the story of Din Djarin and Grogu following the events of The Mandalorian Disney+ series.
Disney has not officially announced a Disney+ streaming release date yet, but there are already some strong indicators based on the studio’s recent release patterns.
The Mandalorian and Grogu does not have a Disney+ streaming date yet
Several industry outlets predict the movie could begin streaming sometime in late August or early September 2026. One projection points to around September 2, 2026, based on Disney’s recent theatrical-to-streaming windows, which have typically landed around 90 to 120 days after a movie’s theatrical debut.
That timeline would make sense for Disney, especially with Labor Day weekend arriving shortly afterward in the United States. Releasing the movie around then could give families and longtime Star Wars fans a big holiday weekend streaming event.
Until then, fans can still watch all three seasons of The Mandalorian on Disney+ while waiting for the streaming debut.
The film stars Pedro Pascal, Sigourney Weaver, and Jeremy Allen White, with Jon Favreau directing and producing alongside Dave Filoni.
If you haven’t heard, Taika Waititi is also working on a Star Wars script. Find out more here!
