Penélope Cruz brought classic glamour to the 2026 Cannes Film Festival while attending the La Bola Negra photocall on Friday (May 22) at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France.
The 52-year-old Oscar-winning actress looked effortlessly elegant in Chanel as she posed alongside the film’s co-directors, Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi, as well as several of her co-stars. Calvo and Ambrossi co-wrote the screenplay with Alberto Conejoro.
According to Red Carpet Fashion Awards, Penélope’s look came from Chanel’s 2027 Resort Collection and featured a dramatic ruffled black dress paired with a black-and-white Chanel scarf tied around the waist.
Penélope also wore Chanel to the La Bola Negra premiere at Cannes on Thursday night. She was joined on the red carpet by co-stars Guitarricadelafuente, Carlos Gonzalez, Miguel Bernardeau, Milo Quifes, and Lola Dueñas, along with co-directors and co-writers Calvo and Ambrossi.
Here’s the film’s synopsis, per Cannes: “La bola negra tells the interconnected stories of three men in three different eras. Three lives intimately linked by sexuality and desire, pain and inheritance, and one of Federico García Lorca´s last, unfinished works.”
The movie also received a huge response from audiences at the festival, earning a 20-minute standing ovation. The emotional reception came close to breaking the Cannes record held by Guillermo del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth, which famously received a 22-minute ovation in 2006.
