Laura Clery is recovering after a terrifying, freak accident in her kitchen.

On Thursday (May 21), the 39-year-old comedian TikTok star was rushed to the hospital after a massive refrigerator fell on her, nearly crushing her to death.

“Most terrifying night of my life as a single mom,” Laura wrote on Instagram. “I was home alone getting ready for bed when my 600 pound fridge slammed into me and pinned me against the counter.”

On her Patreon, explained the events that led to the fridge falling on her.

“Two nights ago, my son, being exactly who he is, decided to climb [the fridge],” she recalled. “I saw it shift slightly, just enough to make my stomach drop. So I ran over to push it back into place. I thought I’d just nudge it in and move on with my day like a woman who has control over her life. The second I pushed it, it came down on me. Not slowly. Not in a way where I could catch it or jump out of the way. It just fell.”

She explained that her two young children witnessed the terrifying the incident and said that she quickly had trouble breathing.

“I could feel it getting harder to inhale, like my body was just slowly deciding to shut down,” she wrote. “And I’m just there, pinned under a fridge, thinking this is the dumbest way anyone has ever died.”

Fortunately, Laura was able to call for help. “Thank God my phone was in my pocket and I was able to call 911. Thank god it didn’t fall on my kids. It took three firefighters to lift it off me. I’m still shaking.”

In a Facebook post shared on May 22, Laura went into more detail about the extent of her injuries.

“Feeling so deeply grateful that we’re all okay… and also not okay…” she wrote. “It’s such a weird place to be… feeling overwhelmingly grateful and completely shaken at the same time. My body is wrecked, my lower back is f–ked, but nothing is broken, which feels like a miracle.”

In follow-up comment on Instagram, Laura described how to felt to be pinned by the fridge.

“The pain was similar to when I was fully dilated and having contractions,” Laura wrote, noting that she remembered thinking, “If I don’t breathe I’m going to lose consciousness if that happens, my kids are alone in the home with no one coming, I was meant to take them to school in the morning.”

“Seriously…this could have been SO much worse,” she added.

In another Facebook post reflecting on the incident, Laura suggested that she may take legal action.

“I want to f#%king sue the contractors who installed this fridge,” Laura wrote before alleging, “This is a nearly 600 pound stainless steel French door fridge that was NOT properly mounted into the wall. Because of that, my 7 year old was able to pull it forward, and when I tried to push it back, it fell on me and was fully crushing me. It nearly killed me. And it could have absolutely killed my child.”

She added, “This should never have been possible. This was negligence.”

We’re glad to hear Laura is luckily OK after the scary incident.
