It has been 27 years since Rebecca Gayheart starred as Julie Freeman in the cult classic movie Jawbreaker and now she’s joining the cast of the upcoming stage musical based on the film!
Rebecca will appear in the limited workshop engagement of Jawbreaker The Musical, which will be stage at the Hudson Theatre in Los Angeles in fall 2026.
Deadline reports that Rebecca will be playing the role of Principal Sherwood, previously played by Carol Kane in the movie.
This isn’t Rebecca‘s first time on stage. She’s appeared in two different Broadway shows – Steel Magnolias in 2005 and Boeing-Boeing in 2008.
“It feels right to launch the musical in LA where the film was shot and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the team we’ve assembled,” the movie’s writer and director Darren Stein told Deadline.
Jawbreaker The Musical is described as a high-gloss teen thriller that follows the rise—and unraveling—of a ruthless clique of teenage girls whose reign of power takes a deadly turn. Fueled by the adrenaline of a pop concert and laced with biting humor, the musical explores the intoxicating—and often dangerous—nature of power, identity and survival in a world obsessed with status. Learn it. Live it. Love it.
