The Broadway play Proof has officially opened, starring Don Cheadle and Ayo Edebiri!
The actors made their official Broadway debuts during the opening night show on Thursday (April 16) at the Booth Theatre in New York City.
They were joined by co-stars Kara Young and Jin Ha, as well as director Thomas Kail, who walked the red carpet with his wife Michelle Williams.
A star-studded crowd assembled for the opening night show, including Matt Damon and wife Luciana, Michelle‘s best friend Busy Philipps, Nicholas Braun, Whitney Peak, and more.
Here’s the play’s synopsis: “Catherine (Edebiri), the brilliant but restless daughter of renowned mathematics professor Robert (Cheadle), is thrust into turmoil when a notebook containing a revelatory proof is discovered after his death. As debate erupts over its true authorship, Catherine must confront the power of legacy, and the cost of proving herself.”
Kara, a two-time Tony winner, was a last-minute addition to the cast after Samira Wiley had to drop out of the production due to health issues.
The 16-week engagement will run through July 19. Get tickets now!
FYI: Don is wearing an Officine Générale jacket and pants.
