Caleb Ellsworth-Clark is opening up about joining the Malcolm in the Middle cast as the new Dewey.

While attending the premiere of the revival earlier this week, Caleb admitted that he was “really, really nervous showing up” to set, but the cast made it easy.

And I think I was aware that maybe people might be disappointed Erik wasn’t gonna come back and do the show. I guess I didn’t want to f–k that up.”

In preparation for the role, Caleb said that he re-watched some of the series. He also praised the cast for being “very warm” to him when he joined.

“They were so warm and welcoming,” he shared. “I was really scared to show up but they all took such great care of me and made me feel like I belong. So I am really grateful to all of them.”

If you didn’t see, Jane Kaczmarek, who plays Lois, shared more insight about why Erik turned down returning for the revival.

Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair is available for streaming on Hulu now!
