Tom Hanks has a new baseball movie in the works!
The 69-year-old Oscar-winning actor is reuniting with his A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood director Marielle Heller for a movie adaptation of the short story The Comebacker by Dave Eggers. The two will also produce the movie through their respective production companies.
Keep reading to find out more…The Comebacker follows “a jaded San Francisco Giants beat reporter, Lionel, whose passion for baseball is reignited by new pitcher Nathan Couture,” according to Entertainment Weekly. “The title comes from a head injury that Nathan sustains, which causes him to speak poetically. The athlete’s love for the game and appreciation for Lionel’s prose inspire the writer.”
Variety also reports that Bad Bunny and Colman Domingo are being eyed for roles in the movie, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
This will be the second baseball movie for Tom, who previously starred in Penny Marshall‘s 1992 sports dramedy A League of Their Own.
Last month, it was announced that Tom Hanks will be playing a former President in a new movie.
