With the season finale of Love Story on FX coming up soon, the show’s creator is looking ahead to the couple they might tackle next.

“Maybe Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. They have the right intensity,” Connor told Vanity Fair.

Elizabeth and Richard fell in love while filming the 1963 film Cleopatra, even though they were both married to other people at the time, Elizabeth to Eddie Fisher and Richard to Sybil Williams.

They would go on to star in 11 projects together and later they did wed from 1964 to 1967. They later divorced, then remarried the year after. They split for good in 1976.

Even years later, Elizabeth would say they likely would have gotten together again had he not died in 1984.

Love Story is the fifth installment set within the American Story franchise started by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk. The current season stars Paul Anthony Kelly as JFK Jr. and Sarah Pidgeon as Carolyn.

Season 1 concludes on Thursday, March 26, on FX and Hulu.

Last week, the producers explained why Carole Radziwill was not featured in the series. Carole previously spoke out against the show in defense of Jack Schlossberg.
