ESPN Shelves Colin Kaepernick Docuseries from Spike Lee Due to ‘Creative Differences’ | Colin Kaepernick, ESPN, Spike Lee | Just Jared: Celebrity News and Gossip

ESPN is shelving a docuseries about Colin Kaepernick.

Spike Lee was previously working on a multi-part docuseries about the former NFL quarterback for the network, but Entertainment Weekly reports that the series has been shelved.

Spike previously revealed that the series was “not coming out” but didn’t share any details about the reason.

Spike originally joined the project in 2022 as the director, but told Reuters recently, “I signed a nondisclosure [agreement], I can’t talk about it.”

ESPN told EW in a statement, “ESPN, Colin Kaepernick, and Spike Lee have collectively decided to no longer proceed with this project as a result of certain creative differences. Despite not reaching finality, we appreciate all the hard work and collaboration that went into this film.”

Colin played for the San Francisco 49ers 2011 until 2016. In 2016, he knelt during the performing of the national anthem, sparking an intense debate among sports fans about athletes’ political activism while on the field.
