Chet Hanks is stuck in Colombia.
The 35-year-old son of Tom Hanks says he is stuck in the Colombian city Medellín without his American passport and unable to get back into the country.
On Friday (February 27), Chet uploaded a video to his Instagram and shared his “story time.”

He says he flew to Puerto Rico last week for a friend’s birthday and had been preparing to leave, but then realized he was only about 2-3 hours away from Colombia and figured he’d go visit another friend.
The Running Point star revealed that he was traveling with his Greek passport because his American one is about to expire “and sometimes they don’t let you in the country even if it hasn’t expired, but it’s about to expire.”
Upon arriving at the airport for his flight back to the U.S., Chet recalls being told that if he’s “using a foreign passport,” he needs a green card to return to the States.
“I don’t have a green card because I’m an American citizen,” he says before laughing at the situation. “I don’t have my American passport with me, so I’m literally stuck in Colombia. I’m stuck in Medellín. Granted, there’s worse places to be stuck. But I literally have no f–king idea what I’m gonna do.”
To make matters worse, Chet adds that the only embassy where he can get things settled is in Bogotá, about an hour away from Medellín by flight.
“I don’t want to go to Bogotá. So, uh, yeah. Free me. You know what I’m saying? Free me,” he concludes the video.
Since then, Chet has uploaded a photo carousel of his trip to Puerto Rico along with several Instagram Stories that appear to be from a club.
His mom, actress Rita Wilson, also liked his initial story time video, so it would seem that his situation is not dire by any means and will likely be figured out soon if it hasn’t been already.
Running Point season 2 is premiering in April. Check out the first-look photos from the new season!
