Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Tommy Lee Applewhite identified as the suspect who unalived Mar Houdini Spanky in Frayser.

According to information, Tommy Lee Applewhite, has been arrested after he killed Rodriguez Antwon Poplar.

The Memphis Police Department is investigating a deadly shooting that occurred during the early morning hours of Friday, January 9.

According to MPD, officers were called to a shooting on Point Church Avenue near North Trezevant Street in the Frayser neighborhood just before 4:45 a.m. The shots were heard by officers while they were leaving a different call.

“And when they pulled down in the area to investigate what was going on, they could see the suspect with the weapon in his hand, and they realized we had a victim that had been shot,” said MPD Major Kimberly Collier.

The dispute happened in a driveway Friday morning.

Major Collier says the victim was shot a couple of times in the stomach. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

MPD says the suspected shooter, now identified as 43-year-old Tommy Applewhite, is in jail and facing numerous charges.

Cassy Smith, who works in the area, says seeing police and hearing gunshots is concerning.

“I don’t really know what to say about that. I wish the violence would stop, that’s what I wish. I pray that the world gets better,” Smith said. “I was shocked. I was like, ‘Damn, a shooting on this street? I work on this street. I hope I’m safe on this street.’”
