Kate Winslet is looking back on the first time she ever met King Charles.
The 50-year-old actress met the British Royal at the The King’s Foundation Awards back in June, but prior to that, she first met him at the Sense and Sensibility premiere in February 1996!
While making an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live this week, Kate recalled that first meeting, where she wore a very sheer, lace outfit, as pictured here.

“The first time I met him, oh my goodness,” she told Jimmy Kimmel. “He came to support the premiere of Sense and Sensibility when I was only 20. And I sort of haven’t realized that we were really going to meet him. I forgot about the fact that I really was wearing a kind of a transparent lace outfit.”
Kate then shared that she was thankful she wore a coat with her look, so she was able to quickly cover herself up before meeting the King, who was the Prince at the time.
“And thank God I’d wore a coat,” she recalled. “Because as he making his way towards me, I’m like, ‘nipples, nipples… nipples, oh my god!’ And then someone just went, ‘Coat!’ And I went [jestures closing the coat and shaking a hand], your majesty. I’m like basically covering myself in a cape and trying to hide my nipples from the King.”
Kate was on the show to promote her upcoming movie Goodbye June, which was actually written by her son, Joe Anders!
